Tips On Maintaining And Caring For Import Car

a3Care for and maintain the car properly is an obligation for car owners. Routine care for and maintain the car will make the car a long life. You can, however, replace normal maintenance parts and still see improved engine performance. Here are common maintenance parts you can replace to significantly increase performance and reduce major problems:

Basic Ignition Parts

Spark Plugs: Spark plugs are good indicators of engine condition. Removing and inspecting spark plugs tell you a lot about how well the engine is running and what may be causing problems.

All spark plugs should be removed and checked every 30,000 miles – even if your car is “low maintenance” – you’re told to change spark plugs at 100,000 miles. This prevents the plugs from seizing in the block, causing expensive repairs down the road.

Always note which plug came from which cylinder. This tells you if a particular cylinder has a problem. BEWARE: New spark plugs can make a difference in your car’s performance but only if replaced with the appropriate OE replacement plug.

Distributor Cap & Rotor: Both the distributor cap and the rotor

Tips About Cooling System Repairs

a2The cooling system is a vehicle component that must always be considered. It would be very troublesome if the cooling system until it breaks. This will have a negative impact on the performance.

Your cooling system performs a critical function. Simply put, it maintains proper engine temperature by circulating coolant through the engine to pick up heat and passing it through a radiator to cool it with air. The coolant passes through a thermostat valve to control flow and possibly over a temperature sensor which controls external air cooling fans.

Cooling systems consist of three main parts:

Cooling System Part #1: Pumping

Your cooling system’s pumping function is handled by its water pump, which keeps the coolant mixture moving.

The main water pump is gear- or belt-driven but, in many cars, a secondary electric water pump is used for improved flow and cooling.

Critical to the pump’s operation is the drive belt that turns it. On most newer cars this is the engine’s timing belt. On older cars, the pump and belt are external and run off the main crankshaft pulley with a “V” or flat belt.

How to Repair Your Brake

a1Suffered damage to the brake ? Brakes are essential components of a vehicle. Brakes keep you and your family stay safe. Brake repairs require no small cost. Especially if the imported vehicle brake repair, would have been very expensive. Other than that, brake rotors for imports are also more sensitive to warping from heat, and overheated brakes are the second most common cause of failure (first is wear-and-tear).

Save money on brake repairs and parts with these tips:

Use Your Eyes & Ears to Inspect Your Brakes

Visually inspect your brakes’ condition at least every six months. Here are some things to look for:

Brake Rotors (discs) should be inspected all the way around the surface and on both sides for any concentric scoring (grooves) or obvious defects. If defects are found, replace your rotors immediately. Any rotor discoloration may be a sign of overheating and an inspection by a brake repair professional is needed.

Brake Pads will normally match rotor scoring but should also be inspected for uneven wear, breakage or cracking on the friction surface. Again, if defects are found, replace the pads

Commercial car wash Vs eco-friendly car wash

Car owners can contribute towards saving the environment by taking the time to wash their cars at home rather than at a commercial automatic car wash. With the right product car washing can use a zero amount of water. Commercial car washes use tons of water at a time. Although this is less than half of the amount that wasteful car washing it still represents a huge amount of water compared to eco friendly car washes. Commercial automatic car washes treat water before releasing it to nature.

However, even if it is treated they still contain trace standard of testing it does not mean that it does not pollute. This is exactly like car emission figures. They tend to get more stringent as time passes. Again car wash products for home use have advanced to a point that there is zero water waste to be dealt with. The way commercial washers are designed compromises the safety of the car’s finish. Although a lot of car washed have seriously taken steps in improving their

Tips to Buy New Tires

Tires are an important component of the vehicle. How to choose and buy a tire with good quality, the following description. These days there are more tire choices than miracle weight loss programs but with a little refresher course on tires, you can trim away the fat and get yourself a set of fairly-priced, safe and durable tires for your car, truck or SUV.

All Those Numbers and Letters

The side of your tire may look like an ancient hieroglyphic text to you. Don’t sweat it. is your personal Rosetta Stone to help you figure out what it all means, and whether it matters to you in your decision.

Each of the markings stamped into the side of a tire have a meaning. Some of them will be important to you, some won’t. You’re probably not worried about the speed rating of the tires for your Prius, but your Porsche 997 Turbo needs go-fat rubber on the road.

On the flip side, treadwear ratings are important to your hybrid, since they affect gas mileage and the effect your tires have on the environment.

The Breakdown
As technology has advanced, the tire companies agreed upon a uniform system of describing every aspect of each tire.

Steps to Remove Gravel and Tar From Tires

Poor road conditions or gravel causing gravel stuck in the tire. it would disrupt the performance of the tire, when the tire is an important component of any vehicle.

Removing the tar and gravel from your car tire is an easy procedure.
Things You’ll Need
– Screwdriver
– Plastic knife

– Water
Use the plastic knife and the screwdriver to scrape off the tar. The plastic knife will help prevent puncturing or damaging the rubber. If you use a screwdriver, be careful to avoid piercing the tire.
Use the stiff scrubbing brush and lots of elbow grease and detergent to scrub off the tar. Try to remove as much tar and gravel as possible. Use a stiff scrubbing brush to scrub off the tar.
Apply the linseed oil on the tires and let it seep into the tar for about 25 minutes. Take your plastic knife and attempt to scrape off more tar.
If you have not removed all of the tar, apply a tar-removing product on the car tires. You can safely use kerosene or a cleaning solvent such as

How to Resolve Wipers not Working Well

Wiper is needed when it rains, it is because the function of the wiper to clean the glass when it rains so you can see more clearly when driving. So what if the wipers are not working properly? This can be a serious bummer, but also a serious safety concern! Smearing, streaking and dead spots are all symptoms of poor wiper performance.

We rely on our wipers to clear the windshield quickly and efficiently so we don’t run off the road or plow into the back of an Smart car. I

f your wipers are old, it’s time to replace them. But if you’ve replaced your wipers recently and they are still not efficient cleaners, here are some potential causes:

  • Worn Wipers. When wipers are truly worn out, there’s not much you can do to bring them back. A dry, brittle or damaged wiper bladeneeds to be replaced soon.
  • Perpetually Filthy Windshield. If your windshield is always dirty, your wipers are working harder and suffering slight damage every time you turn them on for the first time. In snowy regions it’s hard to keep things clean, but taking advantage of the windshield cleaning stations when you fill up will give you a fresh start

Steps to Check Oil in Car

Checking the oil situation is to note the vehicle owner. having too little oil will adversely affect the performance of the machine, as well as if the charge is too much oil. So be careful not to overfill your engine. Also consult your owner’s manual to determine the right grade of engine oil to use.
Here’s how to determine how much oil you may need to add:

1. Drive the car long enough to warm up the engine, then park it on level ground, turn off the engine, and wait 2 minutes. Look under the hood to find the oil dipstick. On most newer cars, the dipstick handle is a bright yellow or orange plastic ring.

2. Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean with a lint-free cloth, reinsert it fully, and remove. The dipstick should have markings that designate the engine oil level. A sheen of oil should indicate the engine’s current level.

3. If the oil level is at or below the bottom ‘fill’ line, add ½ quart of oil into the reservoir opening—located under the screw-cap mounted on top of the engine. Wait 2 minutes, then recheck the level. If it’s still low, add more oil incrementally.

Stay Safe When Riding a Motorcycle in Rain And Cold

Driving rain should be more cautious. Slippery road conditions could cause an accident. How to handle the road when it turns cold, slippery, and unforgiving? Here are a few tips to get you through the winter riding months.

Protect Your Core

Being cold on a motorcycle is the first way your defenses can drop and make you vulnerable to needless mistakes when you’re riding at speed. Are your hands numb or your legs shivering? Riding under less-than-prime conditions can easily open the door to potentially dangerous errors, which is why you should dress for the ride by wearing appropriate layers and donning gear such as base layers, balaclavas, and glove liners. Heated moto equipment, from grips and seats to vests and jackets, can also tax the bike’s battery, so keep an eye on the voltmeter to make sure you’re not robbing your bike of engine starting power.

Clear Your Vision and Pad Your Bubble

Scan the road carefully when the going gets wet because hidden pools of water can mean sudden losses of traction. Note your visor– is its tint obscuring the subtleties of road surfaces? Is condensation blocking the view altogether? Keeping your lid properly ventilated and/or clear by using products like Rain-X is a start.

Easy Steps to Shift a Motorcycle’s Gears

How shift gears is one of the important things that must be mastered sepedah while riding a motorcycle. For starters, mastering how to shift gears is something that must be learned.  But have no fear: shifting a bike can be easily mastered with practice, and is much simpler than it looks.

The Basics

There are three basic controls to operate when it comes to shifting a motorcycle: 1) the throttle, 2) the clutch, and 3) the gear selector. The throttle revs the engine, the clutch engages and disengages the transmission, and the gear selector– you guessed it– selects the gear. Pull the clutch towards you using your left hand, and you can rev the engine without moving the bike forward. But release the clutch while the transmission is “in gear” (ie, not in neutral), and you’ll move the bike forward.

The gear pattern is selected by clicking a lever with your left foot, and is typically laid out as follows:

  • 6th gear (if applicable)
  • 5th gear
  • 4th gear
  • 3rd gear
  • 2nd gear
  • 1st gear

The Technique

Proper shifting technique requires the following maneuvers to be performed smoothly and deliberately:

  1. Disengaging the clutch (using your left hand to pull it towards you)
  2. Selecting the appropriate gear using the shift lever (with your left foot)
  3. Slightly

How to Repair No Crank No Start in Classic Car

The weakness classic car is a long time to start the car. This is in contrast with the modern cars are easier to turn. Professional mechanics divide a no start condition into two main categories. There is the scenario where the engine spins over nicely, but refuses to start. This issue is covered in an article about the crank, no start problem. Here we’re going to talk about the second group, which is when a classic car won’t crank over at all. Mechanics refer to this as a no crank no start condition.

Why Cars Won’t Crank

Of course, the number one reason for an engine not the crank on any car would be a problem with the battery. Since classic car owners are familiar with how to treat a battery during long-term storage we’ll just touch on this briefly and then move on. When storing cars for long periods of time it’s a good idea to remove the battery from the automobile. If possible store them in a clean and dry environment with moderate temperatures.

This way when it’s time to fire up the vehicle the battery can be charged, tested and installed.

If the vehicle will not crank when the battery is

How to Change Battery

Good battery condition is essential for a vehicle. A good battery will last longer by doing simple maintenance routine. The climate is hot may damage the battery so it does not last long.

What you will need:

  1. An adjustable wrench or a socket wrench
  2. New battery
  3. Wire brush or battery terminal cleaner
  4. Clean water
  5. Safety glasses
  6. Rubber gloves (Optional)
  7. Can of Rust-O-Lieum primer
  8. White Lithium Grease

Some cause of premature battery failure are overcharging, undercharging, abuse, or vibration. Modern vehicle computer systems create a small but constant drain on batteries, even when the vehicle is parked, long sitting periods can cause a vehicle’s battery to go dead and need a charge. At some point, your battery will need to be replaced. This is usually a simple task, but sometimes they can be difficult do to severe corrosion. If your battery looks like it’s going to be very difficult, take it to a professional and have them replace it. Get the correct battery for your car. Check with your local auto parts store for the correct type and size. It is a good idea to bring your old battery in to be sure you get the correct replacement, and you can leave it there to be recycled. Make sure your new battery is fully

Steps to Change Air Filter

Troubled air filter will adversely affect the performance of the car. To repair this issue is certainly expensive. These easy steps will get you there and back in no time flat.

  1. Locate and Open the Filter Housing
With your hood open and safely propped, locate the air filter housing. On any car made in the last 20 years or so, it’ll be in a black plastic case with metal clips on the sides. You’ll also see a black tube going into the plastic case on most cars. Flip the little metal clips downward. If they are tight, slide a flat-head screwdriver in between the clip and the case from the top, and pop it off. Some housings will also have a nut holding them from the top.
  2. Squirrel Your Nuts
If you removed nuts from the top of your filter housing, be sure to put them in a safe secure location. You don’t want to lose these! In the vehicle used in our example, the top of the filter housing comes off, so we put them in the housing top where they couldn’t roll away. You can even stick them in your pocket. Whatever you do, put them someplace safe.
  3. Remove the Old Filter

How To Cleaning Ford Mustang

Create mustang always good is the responsibility of the owner of the car. To do this, you must be diligent and regular washing cars. Here some tips that can use to keep mustang conditions remain good.

1.  Clean the Interior First

Always clean the inside of your Mustang before you clean the outside. Reason being, dirt and junk from inside your car can get all over your freshly cleaned exterior in a heart beat. (Unless, of course, you want to wait an hour or so for the car’s exterior to dry.)

2.  Use Newspaper to Clean the Windows

For streak-free windows, try crumpling up a piece of newspaper and using it to dry the surface instead of using the standard paper towel or shop rag. I use standard ammonia-based car window cleaner on my Mustang’s windows, although a few people have told me vinegar (three parts vinegar to one part water) works wonders as a substitute over standard glass cleaner. As for the newspaper, I’ve tried this and the results were top notch (and streak free).

3.  Wear the Right Clothes

BE CAREFUL what you wear when you clean your Mustang. All it takes is one sharp edge, such as

How to Make Your Windshiet Wipers Still Good in Long Time

Driving in the rain makes you have to be more cautious. Activate the wipers to clear the windshield of the car is a common thing to do. But what if the wiper is in trouble, so it can not clear but instead make more dirty and hard to look ahead. This is not safe at all, not to mention frustrating! If your wipers aren’t clearing your windshield of water efficiently, the obvious solution is toreplace your windshield wipers.

But many are discovering there are ways to extend and give new life to your existing wipers. I can remember a time not so long ago that you could buy a new set of wipers for under $10. These days you can easily drop $40 or more on replacement wiper units. This isn’t exactly chump change for many of us so saving some money on wipers sounds like a great idea. But how exactly can you make your wipers work better or last longer?

1. Keep your windshield clean. A clean windshield can greatly reduce the amount of normal wear your wipers suffer. That first wipe of the day can be a killer if your windshield is filthy. Have you ever accidentally hit your wiper

How to Resolve Car That Can’t Turn Over

The car that can’t turn over is a very difficult problem. Would be costly to rectify this situation if it happens to your car. Of course, in the event that your inexpensive repair is diagnosed by an expensive repair shop, you could end up with a much more expensive repair on your hands, and that’s not a good way to start your day.

If your engine won’t turn over, there are a number of problems that could be the cause. The first and most likely problem is a dead or drained battery.

Dead Battery

Just because you have a dead battery today doesn’t mean you necessarily have to go out and purchase a new battery. Many batteries lose their charge or go dead because of an outside power drain. Something as simple as leaving the headlights or overhead dome light on can drain your battery overnight, meaning your car won’t turn over in the morning. This dead battery will still hold a full charge if you recharge it.

You can recharge your battery by getting a jump start and driving your car around for an hour or so, or you can use a battery charger to recharge the dead battery. If your battery is

Some Tips About Car Maintenance in Summer

Keeping the car’s condition remains good in the summer are things that need attention. Many things that need to be prepared to do so. Spend an afternoon on some simple auto maintenance procedures and you’ll thank yourself in the end.

Radiator Flush: The coolant in your radiator doesn’t last forever. Over time it can break down and start to corrode the inside of your radiator. This can lead to cooling problems and radiator repair. A radiator flush once a year is cheap insurance against radiator repairs.

Replace Your Air Filter: You should replace your air filter twice a year, so now’s a good time to get that 5-minute job out of the way.

Tire Checks: Summer traveling could mean driving in the rain. The tread on your tires must be adequate for rainy weather or you could end up in a ditch, or worse.

Checking the tread depth on your tires take one minute. While you’re at it, you shouldcheck your tire pressure, too.

Replace Your Windshield Wipers: Winter weather can be brutal to your windshield wipers, making them almost useless if you get caught in a summer rain shower. Replace them at the beginning of the summer and you won’t have to worry.

Inspect Your

How To Know When The Car Is Overheating

Experiencing the engine overheat is a very bad state. The overheating can cause severe damage and maintenance costs for cars. You’re sitting in traffic, the light turns green, and you pray that traffic breaks enough for you to get some air flowing over the radiator so that engine temperature needle will go down just a little bit. It’s beyond stressful, and there’s no reason you should be forced to endure this. The fact is, there are only a few things that commonly cause an engine to overheat regularly.

1. Low Coolant By a large margin, the most common cause for engine overheating is simply a low coolant level. Your engine’s cooling system relies on coolant to circulate and remove heat from the engine. If you don’t have enough coolant in there to do the job, heat will build up and your engine will overheat. No amount of running the heater in the summer will help if you don’t have enough coolant in the radiator to transfer that heat.

2. Electric Cooling Fan Failure If you have an electric cooling fan that isn’t coming on, this can cause your engine to overheat. The electric cooling fan draws cooler air through your radiator when your

How to Know When Low Oil Pressure And Needed Repairs

Have oil pressure problem. Immediately check find source of the problem from becoming a bigger problem. Oil pressure – or more precisely the lack of it – in certain parts of your car’s engine can become a major repair nightmare. All engines lose a certain amount of oil pressure over time as normal wear increases bearing clearances. But unusually low oil pressure in an engine, regardless of mileage, is often an indication that something is seriously wrong and requires immediate repairs.

That “tappet” noise may be only one sticking lifter but it may also indicate an oil flow problem that will eventually cause damage to at least one valve.

A flickering oil light is more difficult to troubleshoot if your engine is not obviously in need of major repair work.

Modern engines with hydraulic lifters, tight tolerance bearings and miniature oil filters require conscientious monitoring of oil pressure.

The following diagnostic tips (excerpted from “Troubleshooting Low Oil Pressure”, Underhood Service, 10/97) will help you determine whether you have a major repair problem or just a minor annoyance.

Diagnostic Tips

A good place to start your diagnosis of a low pressure condition is at the dipstick. Check the oil to see that it’s at the proper level (not

Tips On Maintaining Car Performance Still Good In Winter

Keeping the car in order to remain in good condition during the winter. How to do that? Here are a few tips to keep your car running efficiently through the winter:

Top Off Your Car’s Fluids

First a word of caution on fluids – particularly for import cars. Car manufacturer’s are required to specify in their owner’s manuals all the fluids to be used in your car and the manufacturer’s OE specifications for each. Make sure to check here first – BEFORE adding any fluids to your car.

Check your antifreeze (radiator fluid). This should be checked periodically throughout the year but is especially critical to protecting your car in winter. Your car should be a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze. Make sure the level is full and the mixture is 50/50. Remember never to remove the radiator cap until the engine has thoroughly cooled. Flushing the system prior to refilling is also recommended about every 24 months.

For more information on antifreeze, visit Cooling System Repairs: It’s Easy to Prevent Breakdowns BEFORE They Happen .

Check and maintain the engine oil level as well, making sure to use the proper viscosity oil for the winter temperatures in your area. Many newer models use synthetic

How to Improve Fuel Efficiency

This now increasingly rising fuel prices, it makes consumers seek to reduce the amount of fuel they use. Fuel efficiency is a high priority. One of the most obvious ways to limit your gasoline consumption is to drive less. For years, everyone has touted the benefit of car pooling. Most cities have even created car pool lanes on their freeways and highways. Instead of 5 people taking 5 cars, 5 people can fit in one car. Using those numbers, 5 employees can reduce their to and from work travel gas cost by 80 percent each. If you live and work inside a city, also consider public transportation. Even though there may be a stigma attached to riding the bus, it can greatly reduce your community costs.

Besides car pooling and public transportation, combining trips and errands can greatly reduce your consumption. A vehicle will operate most efficiently after it has properly warmed up. Short trips usually do not let the car warm up to peak efficiency. When you combine your errands, you reduce the amount of inefficient trips and create a trip that lets the car get to peak efficiency. Many people tend to run errands throughout the week when it
